How These Plans Work

Medicare Advantage plans work the same as your active employee HMO. Except for Kaiser, you select a primary care physician from your plans network of doctors to coordinate all your care. With Kaiser, all care must be within a Kaiser facility. And for all HMOs, you receive no benefits if you go outside your network, unless you have an emergency.

We currently have 2 Medicare Advantage Plans:

Kaiser Senior Advantage

Health Net Seniority Plus

If you enroll in one of these plans you have to complete a Medicare Advantage Form prior to the effective date of coverage. CMS requires that you use a physical address for your permanent/home address. A PO Box may be used for your mailing address. If you change your address to an address outside of the local service area, regardless of whether you are just living or traveling temporarily, you will become ineligible for this Medicare Advantage Plan.

If you choose to leave a Medicare Advantage plan to join a non-Medicare Advantage plan you will need to complete a Disenrollment form.

Why Would A Person Choose A Ppo Over An Hmo

Advantages of PPO plans A PPO plan can be a better choice compared with an HMO if you need flexibility in which health care providers you see. More flexibility to use providers both in-network and out-of-network. You can usually visit specialists without a referral, including out-of-network specialists.

What Is Medicare Assignment For Part B

Health First Insurance California / Health Insurance Guide ...

Medicare Assignment Part B determines if the doctor accepts Medicare for outpatient services. The providers participating type will determine how much you pay for Part B services. For example, fully participating doctors accept Medicare rates for services this means you only pay 20% of the bill with Original Medicare. However, if a provider is not participating, you could be responsible for an excess charge of 15% Some providers refuse to accept Medicare payment altogether if this is the situation, youre responsible for 100% of the costs.
