Target Positions Itself As Benefits Leader With Up To $24 Starting Wage
Target Corp. is setting the bar for employee benefits in retail. Nearly two years after raising its starting wage, the company is now setting a new starting wage range from $15 to $24. This move is part of Targets $300 million investment in benefits for 2022 that includes expanded access to health care for its team members and their families.
The new starting wage range will apply to hourly team members working in Target stores, supply chain facilities and headquarters locations. The exact starting wage within the range will depend on the job and the local market, with market-level wages set by the retailer based on industry benchmarking, local wage data and more.
Beginning in April with its new benefits cycle, Target will also roll out broader, faster access to health care coverage for its hourly team members, in addition to enhanced employee benefits. These actions include:
These expanded offerings help advance key portions of the company’s Target Forward strategy to create equity and opportunity for Target’s team, partners and communities.

Can I Get Unemployment If I Have A Part
You may be eligible for unemployment benefits if you have worked part time. Each state sets its own eligibility rules, but you’re generally required to fulfill minimum work requirements in the months before applying for unemployment. Although you do not have to work full time to fulfill these requirements, your benefits will be lower if you’ve worked only part time.
If you are currently working part time, you may also collect unemployment in most states, but the amount you receive in benefits may be reduced by your earnings from your part-time job.

Target Team Member Discount
One thing you may have heard about is Targets team member discount. This is a generous discount of 10% off your purchases, and it works both in the store and online.
The discount does have some limitations, like your purchases must be made with cash, check, or pre-specified credit and gift cards. You cant use your traditional credit card, like a Visa or MasterCard, and expect to get the discount.
One great thing about the discount is that it also applies to your spouse and any children who you claim as dependent. So they get to reap that 10% discount too, as long as they follow the rules.
There are other restrictions on what you can purchase with your discount and how to use it, so its best to refresh yourself before making purchases.

Target To Drop Health Insurance Coverage For Part

Target Corp. announced Tuesday that it would end healthcare coverage for its part-time workers, citing options available to them in state and federal healthcare marketplaces.
In a corporate blog post, the Minneapolis company said that the majority of its part-time workforce does not enroll in healthcare coverage currently offered by the retailer. Target said that less than 10% of its total workforce, about 360,000, participates in the healthcare plans offered to part-time employees.
Healthcare law changes, said Targets executive vice president of human resources, Jodee Kozlak, have made more options available.
President Obamas new healthcare law requires large companies to offer coverage to employees working 30 hours a week or more or pay a penalty. Many employers have been preparing for the the higher costs. Some companies, such as United Parcel Service Inc., have said they would end coverage for employees spouses if they had access to health insurance through their own employers.
In fact, by offering them insurance, we could actually disqualify many of them from being eligible for newly available subsidies that could reduce their overall health insurance expense, Kozlak said.
Under the healthcare law, some individuals would be eligible for subsidies based on their income to help offset the costs of enrolling for coverage.
The changes will be effective starting April 1.
Kozlak said Target had no plans to cut workers hours.

Target To Stop Healthcare Coverage For Part

– Target Corp TGT.N said it will stop offering health coverage to part-time workers, citing new public insurance exchanges floated by the U.S. government.
Less than 10 percent of the companys 361,000 employees currently participate in the insurance plan that is being discontinued, Target said in a company blog post on Tuesday.
By offering them insurance, we could actually disqualify many of them from being eligible for newly available subsidies that could reduce their overall health insurance expense, Target said.
The public exchanges set up under the health care law, also known as Obamacare, allow individuals to buy government-subsidized healthcare based on their income.
The health insurance coverage will be discontinued from April 1.
“Target will provide U.S. stores’ part-time team members who are currently enrolled in Target’s health coverage and who are losing access to that coverage a $500 cash payment,” Jodee Kozlak, executive vice president of Human Resources at Target said in a company blog post.
The retailer joins a list of companies looking for ways to tackle rising healthcare costs. In September, Home Depot HD.N said it was shifting medical coverage for part-time workers to new public marketplace exchanges.
Walgreen Co WAG.N, the largest U.S. drugstore, and more than a dozen other large employers have said they would offer their employee insurance for 2014 through the Aon Hewitt Corporate Health Exchange AON.N.
